1) Editing Structure
In this guide, you’ll learn how to use Final Cut Pro X to make your own video. From creating the first shot in the project to trimming it down and adding audio and visual effects, I’ll show you everything you need to know to create your very own video. Ready? Let’s get started!
Editing Structure
Great videos start with planning. Most of us want to make short, snappy vlog-style videos, but if you want your viewers to stick around, it’s important that you think through how you are going to structure them. The editor (and creator) needs to put themselves in their viewer’s shoes and ask: What we need to see right now? help me understand what they are saying? Is there information missing that I should know before watching further?
Editing and Maintaining Consistency
Editing is key to creating a high-quality video. As you shoot your raw footage, don’t skimp on post-production editing. Editing refers not only to cutting out unneeded footage but also using special effects and transitions between scenes. To ensure that your video looks as good as possible, be sure you aren’t missing anything, then use Final Cut Pro’s powerful editing tools.
Adding Music
After adding all your clips, you can add music to enhance your video. You can find royalty-free music online or purchase rights from Apple. To buy a song and add it to your project, choose File > Acquire Music. Then select an album or artist and search for songs. If you have an iTunes Store account, you’ll see any songs previously purchased through iTunes in iCloud Music Library. To download them for use in Final Cut Pro X, click Download Song or Album.
Adding Sound Effects
The best way to add sound effects is via an app. In FCPX, Sound Effects are found in both Motion and in Final Cut Pro. Here's how you can add them directly into your timeline via Final Cut Pro
Adding Titles and Transitions
Final Cut Pro X makes it easy to add titles and transitions. Adding these elements is simple, but also important because they help define your video’s look and style. For instance, if you want your video to feel professional and high-quality, you might want to use an animated title sequence. If you want things simple and fun, stick with something like our slide show transition.
Finishing Up
Final Cut Pro has plenty of tools and features, but you’ll probably end up using only a few. The key is knowing which ones you need, and finding out how to use them in your own way. Once you understand what Final Cut can do, it’s easy to make videos quickly. Just get started on making one, and you’ll find out what works best for your purposes.
